Initial Colour Scheme Ideas

The majority of the magazines i had analysed previously show me that the colour scheme of a magazine is very important to attracts the audience's eye firstly, and then is used to associate the genre of music the magazine is aiming at with the colours used. here are the possible options:

BLACK:WHITE:PURPLE:This colour scheme follows the conventions of any rock genre magazines with the main use of black and white, and then the highlights of a contrasting colour. The colour purple could be a good option because it is a slightly more unisex colour so can appeal to both men and women, feel the colour scheme would appeal slightly more to women which is the same as my aims for my target audience, however i don't feel the purple is as bright as i would like to actually stand out and catch a consumers eye when its present on a shelf with many other brightly coloured magazines.

BLACK:RED:YELLOW:this colour scheme is along the lines of NME magazines, the black and red is another typical convention that can be used for rock genres, however i feel the yellow contrast is slightly to bright and exciting, just like NME magazine itself i feel that colour scheme appeals more to teens, which doesn't necessarily fall under my target audience description.

BLACK:WHITE:GREEN: This colour scheme once again, follows the black and white convntions with a contrasting colour, and in this case the contrasting colour is green which although is bright, and stands out from other magazines, i do not feel it would attract women as much, because when looking at colours in a masculine and feminine context, i feel green falls under the masculine group. Therefore, this would not attracts the majority of my target audience.

BLACK:WHITE:RED:This is another example of the black and white conventions, however, its a better example of the use of a contrasting colour. The red is a bright colour which resembles passion, in this case, the passion for music. This colour scheme follows the one for Q magazine, the fact that a magazine already uses this doesn't effect me because the style elements used will distinguish the two magazines from eachother. This colour scheme i feel attracts the target audience of both men and women, as well as the more mature teens and young adults with a slight sense of sophistication.
